Before it is a text, a book is also paper, ink and a trace of time. From 23 to 25 October, Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milan will host the third Mostra del Libro Antico e Raro, organised by FAI with the Italian Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association. The 16 October announcement introduces more than forty Italian and international exhibitors.

Highlights include first editions of Proust and Hugo and an autograph manuscript by Carducci. Alongside the exhibition, Elena Allodi will discuss paper restoration on Saturday 24 October at 11am. Handwriting workshops with Jean Blanchaert follow on Sunday 25, requiring booking and payment. Beyond collecting, the event offers a way to discover the materials and practical care that help books survive through time.
