A comic, a picture card or a preserved page can bring an entire world back into view. Alessandria honours Umberto Eco with La misteriosa fiamma della memoria, announced by the municipality on 12 October, ten years after his death. Curated by Walter Fochesato, the exhibition draws on La misteriosa fiamma della regina Loana, bringing together books, newspapers, notebooks, musical scores and childhood imagery. Its route connects individual memory with a shared imagination, also touching on war and the Resistance. It opens at 11.30 am on 16 October at Biblioteca Civica Francesca Calvo, Piazza Vittorio Veneto 1, and runs until 16 November. For Eco’s readers, it invites reflection on everyday objects as narrative tools. The municipal announcement provides visiting days and opening hours.
