Lee Child visited Preston prison to mark the delivery of free books selected with prisoners and staff. Reported on 16 October by the Lancashire Evening Post, the visit puts a concrete face on The Reading Agency’s programme to distribute almost half a million Quick Reads across UK prisons this autumn. Writing.ie published an update on 17 October.

The collection itself is not a new announcement: the organisation presented its eleven titles on 31 July. The recent development is the books’ arrival and the author’s visit. Child’s High Heat features among a selection combining thrillers and fiction with other genres. The short format aims to make stories easier to enter without compromising the quality of the writing.
