KUM! Festival opens today in Perugia, Umbria, for its tenth edition, running through 25 October under the theme The Temptation of Violence. The inauguration is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Auditorium San Francesco al Prato with scientific director Massimo Recalcati; Franco Arminio appears at 9:30 p.m. Saturday’s literary focus is Manuel Vilas. At 6:45 p.m. in Teatro del Pavone, his An Ode to Poverty explores Spain’s outskirts through work, family memory and inequality. On Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in the same theatre, Antonio Moresco considers the family as a “black box”. Events are free, with mandatory online booking while places last. Literature thus enters the programme as a tool for reading both social and intimate forms of violence.
