Fiction and translation share the spotlight at the twentieth Premio per la Cultura Mediterranea. On 16 October at Cosenza’s Teatro Alfonso Rendano, Ayşegül Savaş received the fiction award for Gli antropologi, published by Gramma Feltrinelli. Rosita Manuguerra won the Narrativa Giovani category with Malanima, published by Feltrinelli.

The latter winner was selected by a school jury of more than three hundred students from ten institutions in Calabria and Basilicata. The translation prize went to Yasmina Mélaouah for her work from French. Literary honours also included a special jury award for Majd al-Assar’s Il mio cuore libero, la forza di una madre di Gaza. Promoted by Fondazione Carical, the prize recognises exchanges between the Mediterranean’s different cultural expressions.
