What happens to a classic when it finds new words? The Boston Book Festival offers an opportunity to explore that question with Emily Wilson, who will discuss Crossing the Wine-Dark Sea: Journeys Through Ancient Literature. WBUR’s preview, published on 14 October, describes a programme bringing together fiction, poetry and books for younger readers.

Organisers confirm Saturday 17 October 2026, from 10am to 6pm, in the Copley Square area. Working with the Boston Public Library, the festival offers free sessions across several nearby venues. Beyond meeting authors, it creates opportunities to approach a less familiar genre or language. Check the official schedule for individual session times and locations before planning a visit.
