A story’s relationship with its readers can also unfold through its author’s voice. The University of Iowa hosts Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah on Monday 12 October 2026 for a reading and audience Q&A presented by VIEWS. The event runs from 7 to 8 pm local time in room 304 of the English-Philosophy Building in Iowa City. His debut collection, Friday Black, won the PEN/Jean Stein Book Award. His first novel, Chain-Gang All-Stars, was a National Book Award finalist and won the Inside Literary Prize. Books will be available to purchase at the event.
